LowSalt is an ingredient that builds upon LowSalt 50% Less sodium. It will be released in 2023 with the same sensory profile as its predecessor: it maintains the same taste as normal salt in partially reduced formulations and has a similar but not exactly the same taste in 100% reduced sodium content formulations.
Fooditive has developed a new type of product, LowSalt, which is made by modifying potassium chloride by adding citric acid and mixing it with a carrier to result in an end-product that is spray dried to reach low sodium salt to be twice as salty compared to natural salt. Fooditive is tackling the side-effects of salt and provides a low sodium salt future which is also a greener alternative for the environment.
